The moment we’ve all been waiting for is here! The premiere date for season 2 of 13 Reasons Why. Netflix announced Friday, May 18, as the set day for the season 2 premiere of the series.
Netflix added new resources to 13ReasonsWhy.info, including an updated Discussion Guide and a New Discussion Series in preparation for season 2. The Discussion Series is a set of videos where cast members address issues in the series such as bullying, sexual assault, drug abuse and more.
According to Deadline, the network added new resources in response to the criticism they received form some mental health experts who said the show could pose as a health risk for certain young people. Especially those with sducidal thoughts since the show deals with teen suicide, bullying, drunk driving and sexual assault in graphic detail.
The series is based on Brian Yorkey’s adaption of the best-selling novel 13 Reasons Why. The story revolves around the unexplained suicide of Hannah Baker and the 13 audiotapes she left behind for her classmates to find and listen to.
Season 2 picks up right where the last season left off, in the aftermath of Hannah’s death and the beginning of the characters’ long complicated journeys toward healing and recovery. Liberty High School will prepare to be put on trial but a mystery person will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried surrounding Hannah’s death. A mysterious number of ominous polaroids lead the main character Clay and his classmates to bring to light a revolting secret and a conspiracy that covers it up.
