Breaking news for XO, Kitty fans: On Tuesday morning, Netflix released the series’ upcoming second season trailer, The Hollywood Reporter reports. It has been previously announced that the second season will be premiering on the streamer on Jan. 6, 2025.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is a spinoff of Netflix’s To All the Boys movie trilogy, which follows the coming-of-age story of Lara Jean’s youngest sister, Kitty Song Covey, portrayed by Anna Cathcart (Descendants 2, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before), as she navigates the themes of sexuality, love, and friendship while attending the Korean Independent School of Seoul, also named KISS by the series’ characters.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer shows Kitty narrating what happened last season very quickly. Fans see her returning to KISS with her friends for a new semester, stating, “Last semester ended with so much drama. This semester I have my priorities straight – I’m going to hit the books and finally discover who my mom really was.”
Furthermore, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer shows new characters and a huge surprise character cameo for fans of the original To All The Boys movies: Peter Kavinsky! Netflix, with this trailer, has announced the return of Noah Centineo’s (The Recruit, The Perfect Date) character for a few episodes as the guide in Kitty’s life. If anyone is interested in seeing more, the trailer is embedded below.
“Working with Anna again was amazing. She’s so wonderfully talented and her work ethic shows in every scene,” Centineo explained in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum.com via The Hollywood Reporter. “Stepping back into the To All The Boys universe was a true joy and I hope our incredible audience enjoys seeing Peter again as much as I did.”
XO, Kitty‘s showrunner, Jessica O’Toole (Charmed, An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success), explained her thoughts on Peter Kavinsky returning to the To All The Boys universe. “I can’t wait for the fans to see Peter interact with some of their favorite XO, Kitty characters and to see all of the other juicy surprises we have in store… including some big moments fans have been waiting for and others they will never see coming,” she said via The Hollywood Reporter.
Season one of XO, Kitty is now available to stream on Netflix. As stated beforehand, season two of the series will be released on Jan. 6, 2025.
