The upcoming season of Severance offers fans a new way to deep-dive into the series’ mind-numbing lore. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a companion podcast hosted by star Adam Scott (Madame Web, Parks and Recreation) and director Ben Stiller (Night at the Museum, Zoolander) will launch with the Apple TV series. Its second season is set to premiere in January.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Severance Podcast with Ben Stiller and Adam Scott will offer commentary through a rewatch of season one and more behind-the-scenes details about the series as the second season’s story unfolds. Stiller serves as a director and executive producer while Scott is an EP and star of the psychological thriller. Planned guests for the podcast include series creator Dan Erickson, co-stars Zach Cherry (You, Fallout), Britt Lower (Holly Slept Over, Man Seeking Woman) John Turturro (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Batman), EP Jackie Cohn (In The Dark, Plus One) and series superfans.
“We have severed ourselves from the world for five years making this show,” the cohosts said in a statement via THR. “While we have no memory of what happened during that time, we thought we should do a podcast for all the Innies who will have no recollection of watching, in an attempt to reintegrate them with their memory of the show.”
For those yet to experience the show, Severance follows a group of Lumon Industries employees, led by Scott, who discovers a sinister conspiracy within the depths of the prestigious tech conglomerate. The company’s prized benefit – the ability to sever workers’ consciousness between work and home life – eyes a reach beyond the work walls, crossing the lines of morality and free will. Season one ended with a breathtaking cliffhanger as Scott’s Mark Scout uncovered a dark secret.
Season two finds Mark still embroiled in Lumon’s web as shown in the official teaser. We see a desperate Mark racing through the labyrinth of white walls at work, before stumbling into his cubicle to find his devoted coworkers – Helly, Irving, and Dylan – replaced by three new faces. One familiar face, Tramel Tillman’s (Sweethearts, Hit-Monkey) Milchick, welcomes Mark back, alluding to a prolonged absence.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the podcast makes its two-episode premiere on January 7, with episodes released each weekday leading up to the season’s January 17 premiere. Episodes will then drop weekly through the season’s run through March 21.
