According to Deadline, Starz and Sky have just released the new official extended trailer for Sweetpea and the official premiere date. The dark comedy-drama will have a total of six episodes when it premieres. The series is scheduled to premiere on Sky and Starz on October 10.
Below is the official trailer for the series.
Sweetpea is based on the cult novel by C.J. Skuse (Dead Head, In Bloom), and Starz jumped aboard as U.S. co-producer earlier this year. Ella Purnell (Invincible, Arcane) takes on the lead role in the series as Rhiannon Lewis. Purnell is also known for playing Jackie Taylor in Paramount+’s Yellowjackets and even more recently led in Prime Video’s adaptation of Fallout.
The series is created by Kirstie Swain (Ladybaby, EastEnders) and follows Rhiannon Lewis, a quiet wallflower who develops a vengeful and intoxicatingly liberating taste for murder. “At its core, the series is about a woman finally finding her voice, told through a uniquely dark and comedic lens,” per the logline.
Other cast members of the series include Nicôle Lecky (Death in Paradise, Sense8) as Julia, Jon Pointing (Big Boys, Smothered) as Craig, Calam Lynch (Bridgerton, The Assassin) as AJ, Leah Harvey (Foundation, A Gentleman in Mosco)) as Marina, Tim Samuels (The Witcher, Empire of Light) as Phil, Dino Kelly (Peaky Blinders, Trigger Point) as Marcus, Lucy Heath (An Irish Goodbye, Trying) as Lucille, Elliot Cable (Taking on Skin, The Shamrock Spitfire) as Shaun, Jeremy Swift (Downtown Abbey, Ted Lasso) as Norman and Dustin Demri-Burns (Cardinal Burns, Slow Horses) as Jeff.
The series is written by Swain, Krissie Ducker (Killing Eve), Laura Jayne Tunbridge (Requiem, Dragged Up) and Selina Lim (Sex Education, Hollyoaks). Executive producers include Purnell, director Ella Jones (Sliding Doors, Back to Life), Swain, Stephen Walters (Revolver, Formula 51), Helen Gregory (No Angels, Case Histories), Iain Canning (Lion, The Stranger) and Emile Sherman (Slow Horses, One Life).
