Comedian Tom Segura (Sledgehammer) has been very vocal about his alleged upcoming project. According to Deadline, the comedian had been teasing his TV pilot that has been produced and sold after being fully developed and self- financed. Now, the pilot is confirmed with the news that Segura’s pilot will be coming to Netflix.
This is not the first time Segura is involved with Netflix. Prior to this, the comic has seen five of his stand-up comedy specials be brought onto the streaming giant. But, this new series will not be a standup-special, but a comedic journey through small vignettes. The untitled project is a six-episode long feature that is described as a dark comedy. Segura will star in it himself as he serves as the series’ narrator who takes the audience through short comedic and twisted sequences as it is no secret that Segura’s humor is out there. Thus the stories brought to viewers will unfold in such an odd and disturbing way, that the only person who’s brain it could have possibly come from, would be Segura’s.
The pilot is fully produced and written by Segura. It is also directed by Rami Hachahe who had previously worked with Segura on his specials Ball Hog and Mostly Stories. The series’ head writer position will be served by Jermey Konner who has worked on comedic series such as Drunk History and Waffles & Mochi. The series will continue to be overlooked and produced by Segura. While there is no definite premiere date, it is known that the series will be released on Netflix next year in 2025 as production begins later this year .
Segura is currently touring his comedy on his “Come Together” tour. His most recent Netflix stand-up special Sledgehammer debuted at #1 on the streaming platform. Segura also is known for his podcast Your Mom’s House and his work on the film Instant Family.
