Three weeks before its premiere, Paramount+ has launched another trailer for the second season of Halo. Based on the popular video game franchise, an earlier trailer had already hinted at promising a beloved story arc from the source material. View the new trailer below.
First premiering in March of 2022, Halo follows the iconic character of Master Chief, a bioengineered super soldier set to lead future American troops, called Spartans, against a race of aliens known as the Covenant. Master Chief, aka John-117, is played by Pablo Schreiber (American Gods, Orange is the New Black). In the new trailer, we see him don the legendary helmet as a new character’s voice narrates that we all “need Master Chief.”
The trailer depicts more action sequences as it details the fall of humanity before current events. According to the season’s synopsis, more is at stake with a higher threat to come. Read the full synopsis via ScreenRant below:
In season two, Master Chief John-117 (Pablo Schreiber) leads his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant. In the wake of a shocking event on a desolate planet, John cannot shake the feeling that his war is about to change and risks everything to prove what no one else will believe – that the Covenant is preparing to attack humanity’s greatest stronghold.
With the galaxy on the brink, John embarks on a journey to find the key to humankind’s salvation, or its extinction: the Halo.
In addition to Schreiber, season two sees the return of Jen Taylor (The Devil Wears Prada, The Truman Show) as John-117’s trusted AI assistant, Cortana; the nefarious Dr. Halsey, played by Natascha McElhone (Designated Survivor, Hotel Portofino); Kate Kennedy (A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Gregor) as loyal Spartan soldier Kai-125; Bookem Woodbine (The Inspection, Queen and Slim) as Soren-066; and Yerin Ha (Sissy, Bad Behaviour) as resistance orphan Kwan Ha. James Morgan (Ben-Hur, Immortals) joins this season as James Ackerson, a well-known character from the video game.
Season two of Halo premieres on Paramount+ on February 8. Season one is available for purchase.
