Digimon announced plans to celebrate its 25th Anniversary, Comicbook reports. The Digimon anime franchise has been around for quite some time now, as each anniversary has been even more fantastic than the other. The 20th Anniversary saw Digimon rebooting the original Digimon Adventure series and gave fans a new story and a new movie to bring the original story to its end.
With 2023 coming to a long-awaited closure, Digimon has already changed its social media account to update the anime’s fans. The logo for Digimon’s 25th anniversary has been revealed with an announcement that is teasing their big plans in 2024 to honor this long-time anime. The anniversary date will be Mar. 6, 2024. The first event revealed is an online one, named “DIGIMONCON 2024” which will be held for fans all over the world.
But what is Digimon? Digimon are “Digital Monsters.” They live in a “Digital World”, which is a replica of Earth’s communication network. The story is about a group of pre-teens, named “The Chosen Children”, who accompany the special Digimon on several adventures to defend the world from different evil forces. To help achieve bigger milestones and surmount more difficult obstacles, Digimon can evolve and become more powerful (Digivolve). The group of children who accompany Digimon in the Digital World changes from season to season. Digimon has been very widely popular over the past few years, and there is so much curiosity over what could be coming next.
There are more plans to be revealed in 2024 that will mark the 25th anniversary of this long-time project. Last year’s movie, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginners, hit theaters around the world this Fall which included an adult version of the DigiDestined cast seen in the second season of the TV anime.
