The Menendez brothers’ story is in the works to be produced on Ryan Murphy’s (American Horror Story, The Watcher) anthology series Monster. The second season of the series will be following the season that completely and entirely gripped viewers, The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Dahmer was portrayed by Evan Peters (American Horror Story, WandaVision) and now Cooper Koch (Swallowed, They/Them) and Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Crushed, General Hospital) are cast as the Menendez brothers.
According to Deadline, Koch is to play Erik Menendez while Alexander Chavez is set to play Lyle Menendez. Deadline also stated that Netflix and Ryan Murphy’s representation declined to comment but it’s the general understanding that both castings were completed before the Writers Guild of America strike. Murphy has also stood his ground by not participating in any activity or development on the series since the walkout.
The Menendez brothers have an intriguing and strange case, which continues to unfold to this day. Season two will be telling the real life story of the murder of Jose Menendez and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez. Kitty and Jose were real life Menendez brothers’, Erik and Lyle, parents. Erik and Lyle eventually admitted to committing the heinous crime, but the brothers have been strong in their argument that the murders were committed in retaliation to the incessant physical, emotional and sexual abuse that Erik and Lyle sustained.
Complete details have yet to revealed by Netflix but Netflix also has a documentary on the Menendez brothers in the works that is rumored to feature Erik and Lyle.
In regards to the Menendez brothers’ case still unraveling, a new development actually unfolded this past May. Erik and Lyle Menendez recently filed the according documents to request a new hearing after musician Roy Rossello claimed to have been molested by Jose Menendez at the age of fourteen. There has been no news yet on whether or not the hearing will be approved and what this means for the Menendez brothers in the future.
