According to ComicBook.com, a new promotional image for the Disney + show Ahsoka reveals what looks to be a Sith inquisitor. The inquisitors were the main villains of Star Wars Rebels, which Ahsoka is a sequel to.
The promotional image, first revealed in Empire, depicts a character with all the trademark identifiers of a Sith inquisitor, such as the spinning double-bladed red lightsaber, black armor, and covering helmet. These traits suggest the character is a Sith inquisitor, or at least someone impersonating one.
However, according to most pre-established Star Wars lore, the Sith inquisitors were thought to be more or less extinct by the time the show takes place. Sith inquisitors are agents of the empire who hunt down any Jedi who survived Order 66. Most were believed to be Jedi survivors who turned to the dark side after being kidnapped and tortured. They were originally led by the Grand Inquisitor, but Darth Vader later takes control of the Inquisitors and their training. The inquisitors also appear in Star Wars Rebels and the Jedi Fallen Order games. The Grand Inquisitor and a number of other inquisitors also appear in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. However, it is believed that the inquisitors were no longer a part of the empire by the time the original Star Wars trilogy takes place. However, it appears that at least one inquisitor is still around after the destruction of the second death star. which is when Ahsoka takes place.
In Ahsoka, the titular character, played by Rosario Dawson (Trance, DMZ) will be joined by some of the characters from Star Wars Rebels in her search for Admiral Thrawn. It’s possible that this inquisitor is one of Thrawn’s agents, or the inquisitor could represent another threat entirely.
Fans can watch the series when it airs on Disney + this August.
