Save the Date is NBC Universal’s new slogan for viewers to prepare for the 2024 Olympics coming next year on July 26. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the games bring a huge rise in ratings for the network’s television channel Peacock. Hence they are starting to promote the games early with some familiar faces.
County music star Dolly Parton, WWE star Roman Reigns, and a minion are the earliest promoters set by NBCU to get the excitement going for the games. Parton shares a statement from The Hollywood Reporter: “I love the Olympics! I do my best to plan my schedule to watch as much of it as I possibly can. I tape it just in case I miss the live action on a certain day and watch it back as soon as possible. I laugh, I cry, I scream; there are no losers in the Olympics as they have all spent a lifetime preparing but I celebrate with the ones that go away with the gold, silver and bronze medals.”
Other moves by NBCU’s Save the Date campaign have been set into motion as Savannah Gutherie (Today) got a send-off from Good Morning America as she makes her way to Paris, where she will report the Olympic games and even speak to athletes such as Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Shilese Jones, Noah Lyles, Jordan Chiles, and Konnor McClain. In a statement with The Hollywood Reporter, Gutherie shared, “There are some names that you know from the last Olympics and some that are names you will know in about a year from now. So the idea is really just to introduce some of the athletes some of the storylines that we’re following, but also to show off Paris a little bit.”
Viewers can catch the Olympics to be streamed live on Peacock and also catch the games live on NBC.
