Fans of the hit Netflix show Ginny & Georgia are eagerly anticipating the release of season two, which premieres on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023. Deadline reports that, in the newly released trailer, Ginny is struggling to act normal and live with the knowledge of her mother’s secret, which is causing tensions between the two to rise.
The show stars Brianne Howey (Scream Queens) and Antonia Gentry (Candy Jar) as mother and daughter Ginny and Georgia, and explores the complex and often fraught relationship between the two.
At the end of season one, Ginny and her brother leave home after growing tired of their mother’s lies. In the new trailer for season two we see that they are staying with Zion (played by Nathan Mitchell, The Boys) while Georgia (Howey) spends her nights at home with Paul (played by Scott Porter, Hart of Dixie) and denies missing her children.
Per TVLine, the official synopsis for season two hints at drama and intrigue, asking the question: “How do you live with the knowledge that your mother is a murderer?” It remains to be seen how Ginny will handle this difficult situation and whether she and Georgia can find a way to repair their strained relationship.
As Ginny grapples with this revelation, she also faces the challenges of teenage romance and dealing with her crush Marcus, who is clearly concerned about her. Meanwhile, Georgia tries to move on with her life and plan her upcoming wedding, but her past continues to haunt her.
In the trailer, fans can see the return of an important figure from Georgia’s past: Austin (played by Diesel La Torraca, Little Monsters) is seen saying, “Dad?” Given that his father was in prison, it seems likely that this development will lead to more dramatic events in the upcoming season.
The cast of Ginny & Georgia also includes Jennifer Robertson (Schitt’s Creek), Felix Mallard (All the Bright Places), Katie Douglas (Level 16) and Degrassi’s Sara Waisglass, Raymond Ablack, and Chelsea Clark. The show is created and executive produced by Sarah Lampert (Haze), with Debra J. Fisher (Criminal Minds) serving as showrunner and executive producer. Jeff Tahler (Life is Beautiful), Jenny Daly (Container Wars), Holly Hines (Fortitude), Daniel March (Trapped), Lance Samuels (Shark Killer), Daniel Iron (The Red Violin) and Armand Leo (Killer High) also executive produce.
