HBO Max has just released a teaser trailer for their upcoming historical dramedy miniseries, White House Plumbers. The limited series retells the story of E. Howard Hunt, played by Woody Harrelson (Zombieland, Now You See Me) and G. Gordon Libby, played by Justin Theroux (Mulholland Drive, American Psycho), the masterminds responsible for Watergate, one of the biggest political scandals in American history.
The teaser gives a brief glimpse of Hunt and Libby’s hiring by the Nixon administration before briefly showcasing the wiretapping of the Democratic Party’s headquarters and eventual investigation by the F.B.I. all while the catchy tune of “Evil Ways” by Santana plays in the background. According to the Hollywood Reporter, White House Plumbers is partially based on the public recordings of Watergate, as well as the book Integrity by Egil “Bud” Krogh and Matthew Krogh (The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers, Nixon: A Presidency Revealed).
White House Plumbers is created and written by Alex Gregory (What Men Want, A Good Old Fashioned Orgy) and Peter Hyuck (VEEP, King of the Hill) and directed by David Mandel (The Dictator, The Cat in the Hat). Alongside Harrelson and Theroux, the cast also includes the acting talents of Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, 300) as Dorothy Hunt, Domhnall Gleeson (the Star Wars sequel trilogy, The Patient) as John Dean, Judy Greer (the Halloween sequel trilogy, 13 Going on 30) as Frances Liddy, Ike Barinholtz (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, The Hunt) as Jeb Magruder, Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Swimming with Sharks) as Kevan Hunt, and Kathleen Turner (Romancing the Stone, The War of the Roses) as Dita Beard.
The limited series will be divided into five parts and will release exclusively on HBO Max in March of 2023. Check out the trailer for White House Plumbers featured just below.
