FOX’s Monarch has been canceled after one season, with its Tuesday night season closer marking the end of the series, via Deadline. Monarch follows the Roman family after they create a country music dynasty, but when their reign as country royalty is put in jeopardy, Nicolette, played by Anna Friel (Land of the Lost, Limitless), will stop at nothing to protect her family’s legacy.
According to Deadline, the season averaged a 0.3/3 L7, up 50% from L+SD, and 4.1 million multiplatform viewers, up +149% from L+SD, with a season premiere score of 0.8 adults 18-49 Live+Same Day ratings and 3.8 million total viewers. While the pilot was ranked as Fox’s most-watched fall scripted debut in three years, the series struggled for the rest of the season, according to Deadline. The show was filmed during the pandemic, and was set to premiere in January 2022 but was pushed to the fall, with the full season running eleven episodes long, via Deadline.
Along with Friel, the series stars Trace Adkins (The Lincoln Lawyer, Mom’s Night Out), Joshua Sasse (No Tomorrow, Rogue), Beth Ditto (Dickinson, Nocturnal Animals), Inigo Dominic Pascual (Four Sisters Before the Wedding, Finally Found Someone), Meagan Holder (Pitch, One Way), Kevin Cahoon (Nurse Jackie, A Series of Unfortunate Events), Emma Milani (Solve, Dying to be a Cheerleader), as well as Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise, Dead Man Walking) and Martha Higareda (Street Kings, Borderland).
Monarch is currently available to watch on FOX NOW, Hulu, and Prime Video.
