A new trailer for BET’s The Oval means fans are even closer to the hit drama series’ return. According to TVLine, the season two trailer was released Friday with a preview of the tumultuous mess occurring behind closed doors at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Check out the trailer below:
The primetime soap opera stars Ed Quinn (2 Broke Girls, American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rule) and Kron Moore (Into the Storm, Beast Beast) as President and First Lady, Hunter and Victoria Franklin, respectively. The first couple presents themselves and their two children as being models of morality and professionalism. But within the walls of the White House, the family is plagued by scandals, from extramarital affairs to substance misuse and even murder.
In the trailer, we see Moore’s Victoria threaten to chop another one of her husband’s mistresses into tiny pieces and ship her to her mother. In another scene, Lilly Winthrop, played by Ciera Payton (Wendy Williams: The Movie, The Walking Dead), confirms to another character that POTUS has indeed committed murder. And if that isn’t enough drama, Gillian Iliana Waters’ (Bamboozled, Welcome to Sudden Death) Diane Wilmont references a witness who could “take down the entire administration.” It seems to be every man for himself where even the first son, Daniel Croix Henderson’s (Young Shadow, The Elevator) Jason Franklin, appears to be strangling his grandmother midflight aboard Air Force One.
TVLine reports the second season is due to premiere on February 16 at 10:30 p.m. ET on BET. It follows the network broadcast premiere of Perry’s final stage play, Madea’s Farwell Play. Written by the Why Did I Get Married scribe, the show’s extensive cast also includes Paige Hurd (Everybody Hates Chris, Power Book II: Ghost), Javon Johnson (The Mob Doctor, Dogma), Ptosha Storey (Acrimony, Petals on the Wind), Vaughn Hebron (King Richard, TiTi Do You Love Me), Teesha Renee (Yes, God Yes, Diva, Interrupted), Lodric Collins (Dutch Kills, Last Rites of the Dead), Taja V. Simpson (My Online Valentine, Baker’s Man), Walter Fauntleroy (Only Mine, Beautiful and Twisted), Brad Benedict (Love on the Rise, Too Close to Home), Travis Cure (David, Flowers), Matthew Law (A Fall From Grace, The Paynes), and Bill Barrett (Along Came the Devil 2, Child’s Play).
Perry was one of few showrunners who successfully filmed several TV series amidst the pandemic last year. While providing lodge to actors and crew upon his Atlanta-based Tyler Perry Studios, he filmed a new season of BET’s Sistas, the new series Bruh and The Oval’s new season.
