The Bad Boys film spinoff, LA’s Finest, has been canceled after two seasons according to Variety. The series was produced by Bruckheimer Television and 2.0 Entertainment in collaboration with Sony Pictures TV and Charter Communications.
The series followed police detective Syd Burnett who relocates to Los Angeles from Miami, where she finds her new partner, Nancy McKenna. Gabrielle Union (Breaking In) plays Syd Burnett and Jessica Alba (Dark Angel) plays Nancy McKenna. Union’s role is a revival of her role in the original Bad Boys II film.
“Gabrielle and Jessica are brilliant together and our incredible showrunners Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, and Pam Veasey did an amazing job of crafting an action-packed and riveting season one. We can’t wait to work again with this amazing team of prolific and talented executive producers and dive into the next chapter for Syd and Nancy,” shared Sony Pictures TV president Jeff Frost (Disney ABC Television Group) earlier last year via Variety.
Both Union and Alba executive produce with Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun), Brandon Margolis (The Blacklist), Brandon Sonnier (The List), Jonathan Littman (The Amazing Race), KristieAnne Reed (Lucifer), Pam Veasey (Ringer), Doug Belgrad (Charlie’s Angel), Jeff Gaspin (The Mirror Man), Jeff Morrone (Atomic Blonde), and Anton Cropper (Black-ish).
The show’s cancellation was announced soon after the broadcast rights were given to Fox, the first season was aired on the network and the second season premiered on Spectrum Originals earlier that same month.
The series started out as a pilot on NBC during the 2018 pilot season, Spectrum then picked it up as its first original series, premiering the show in 2019.
