HBO Max‘s highly-anticipated sci-fi series Raised by Wolves released its first trailer today. Executive produced by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner), the trailer premiered at the Television Critics Association‘s virtual tour, via Deadline.
Raised by Wolves explores the narrative of two androids forced to create human life on a new planet. As the population grows, different beliefs create factions among humanity. The creators face a moral impasse on how to control these new beings.
The 10-episode first season stars Travis Fimmel (Vikings, Warcraft), Amanda Collin (Resin), Abubakar Salim (Jamestown), Winta McGarth (Boys in the Trees), Niamh Algar (The Virtues, Pure), Matias Varela (Easy Money, 438 Days), Felix Jamieson (The Ghost, Game of Thrones), Ethan Hazzard (The Long Song), Jordan Loughran (Emerald City, Evermoor), Aasiya Shah (Unforgotten), and Ivy Wong (Star Wars: Rogue One).
At the TCA event, creator Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners, Papillon) credited Scott for continuing his particular aesthetic from past works and added: “he’s evolving into some new stuff we haven’t seen yet,” via Deadline. Another executive producer David Zucker (Naked Gun, BASEketball) praised Guzikowski and Scott’s collaboration.
“The first time Aaron and Ridley came together, both of them being fine artists, Ridley was working up some of his visual inspiration for the piece and started slowly sharing it with Aaron,” Zucker said via Deadline. “Before you knew it the two of them were drawing right next to each other and evolving their ideas. It was a very exciting sort of collaboration from the start to finish.”
Originally set for TNT, the HBO Max original premieres September 3.
