FX’s president of original programming, Nick Grad (The Strain, You’re The Worst), announced that the comedy series Breeders has been renewed for a second season, according to Variety. The feel-good show details the life of couple Paul (Martin Freeman: The Hobbit, Black Panther) and Ally (Daisy Haggard: The Guardians, Black Mirror) who are exploring the nuances and delights of parenting whilst discovering themselves in the process.
Breeders’ first season premiered in March and had its season finale at the end of April. It was produced by British production company, Avalon (Not Going Out, Spitting Image) and FX productions for FX ad Sky Originals (Jamestown, Stan Lee’s Lucky Man). Having gained much esteem since then, Grad claims to be content with the series’ overall popularity.
“We are proud of everything the create team and talent on ‘Breeders’ achieved in the first season and look forward to seeing where they take it in season two,” he mentioned. “’Breeders’ has really resonated with viewers, who’ve come to appreciate its honest and humorous take on the challenges of modern parenting.”
Freeman is also pleased to have another “go at ‘Breeders.’” He reckons “the next one will be even better” and has thoroughly enjoyed creating the show with his fellow cast and crew, Variety sources state. A part of that jovial crew includes producer, Simon Blackwell (Veep, The Thick of It), who also served as Breeders first season showrunner and executive producer, Variety asserts. Freeman and Chris Addison (Skins, Veep) stand as the show’s co-creators.
Other individuals involved in the production include executive producers Richard Allen-Turner (The Russel Howard Hour, Not Going Out), Rob Aslett (Taskmaster, Chris Ramsey Approval Needed) , David Martin (Breeders), Jon Thoday (Catastrophe, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay), Toby Welch (Skins, The Tunnel) and Michael Wiggs (A Generation of Vipers, Rags). Ben Palmer (Urban Myths, The Inbetweeners) also serves as a co-executive producer.
The are currently no details regarding season two of Breeders development. Expected cast, talent and premiere dates are also unknown.
