This is not the first resurfacing of Mr. Show with a spin-off film Run Ronnie Run in 2002 and two specials in Mr. Show Live: Hooray for America! and Hollywood Said No! in 2002 and 2013 respectively. The sketch comedy series also witnessed a revival from Netflix in 2015 under the name W/ Bob and David which ran for a total of five episodes which was subsequently applauded by critics and fans.
The series, created by Odenkirk (Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul) and Cross (Arrested Development), incorporated numerous comedians as actors and writers for the series. Mr. Show’s talented cast and writers included the likes of Sarah Silverman (Saturday Night Live), Jack Black (Tropic Thunder), Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Dino Stamatopoulos (Community), Paul F. Tompkins (Bojack Horseman), and many more. The upcoming special, aptly titled The Mr. Show “Kidz With Beardz” Presents: Come Join Our Zoomtacular Annual Business Call!, will feature the returning Tompkins, Kenny, Scott Aukerman (Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis), Jill Talley (The Boondocks), Jay Johnston (The Sarah Silverman Program), Brian Posehn (The Big Bang Theory), John Ennis (Zodiac), and Brett Paesel (Transparent).
The charity event presented over a Zoom call due to stay at home orders will be available to stream live on House Seats. Tickets are available for purchase here. The series is currently available to stream in its entirety on HBO Go and Hulu with an HBO subscription. Take a peek at one of the more memorable clips from the Zoom special below:
