The Netflix animated series based on the beloved Dr. Seuss book is coming back for a second season. After a highly reviewed first season, Green Eggs and Ham is setting out to bring even more joy to young viewers.
The show follows the story of the bubbly Sam-I-Am and his more serious counterpart Guy-Am-I on a road trip adventure as they try to get a rare Chickeraffe (part chicken, part giraffe) to safety. Netflix has stated that the new season “takes them around the globe and outside their comfort zones as they get caught between two sides of a delicious conflict.” The series features the voices of Adam DeVine (Sam) and Michael Douglas (Guy), as well as Keegan-Michael Key, Eddie Izzard, Jillian Bell, Diane Keaton, Jeffrey Wright, Ilana Glazer, Tracy Morgan, Daveed Diggs, John Turturro, and Billy Eichner.
Green Eggs and Ham is executive produced by Jared Stern, who created the series, as well as Ellen DeGeneres, Sam Register, Mike Karz, David Dobkin and Jeff Kleeman. The show is produced by Helen Kalafatic. The animation for the series is primarily handled by Warner Bros. Animation. The first season of Green Eggs and Ham was highly acclaimed, receiving a PGA Award nomination for Outstanding Children’s Program. A review from IndieWire notes that Green Eggs and Ham does significant work expanding upon the original picture book, saying the series “manages to maintain the book’s elastic spirit, in all its visual and linguistic tricks… the series becomes the kind of show that could be a fundamental entry point for younger viewers learning how to follow a broader, episodic tale.”
The second season of the show will be titled Green Eggs and Ham: The Second Serving. The season has been confirmed for ten episodes, a slight drop from season 1’s thirteen episode count. A premiere date for the second season has not yet been announced. You can watch the trailer for the first season of Green Eggs and Ham below.
