Penn Badgley’s Joe will be back to his wicked ways sooner than later, as Deadline has reported the disturbed romantic is making his return to Netflix on December 26 on the hit show YOU. Last season YOU followed Badgley’s character Joe Goldberg, the manager of a bookstore in New York, and his infatuation over Guinevere Beck, a graduate student and inspiring novelist navigating through the city in an attempt to search for her long lost voice as a writer, while also looking for love, something Beck believes she’s found when she meets Joe. What Beck doesn’t realize, however, is that she might have found love in the wrong place, as Joe’s idea of a steady relationship involves stalking his girlfriend at every turn, spying on Beck’s social media channels, and removing everyone who has a problem with their relationship out of their lives by any means necessary.
The first season of YOU, based on the best selling novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes, premiered on Lifetime on September 9, 2018. It enjoyed moderate success on the network before the show made a leap to Netflix on December 26, 2018, where it became a mega hit on the streaming platform and never looked back. YOU was reported to have a viewership of 40 million in just its first four weeks after migrating to its new home on Netflix.
Season two of YOU will take place in Los Angeles, California, with Joe looking to make a fresh start after the carnage and broken hearts he’s left behind in New York. The new object of his obsession will be Love Quinn, an aspiring chef played by Victoria Pedretti of The Haunting Of Hill House fame, another Netflix hit. YOU will also feature James Scully and Ambyr Childer as supporting cast members, with comedian Chris D’elia in a recurring guest spot.
