Last night the Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce passed away. Boyce first appeared on the tv show Mrs. Fletcher, the movie Mirrors, and Adam Sandler’s Grown Ups before appearing on Disney Channel’s Jessie, alongside Debby Ryan, and in Disney Channel’s Original Movie Descendants. Boyce was born on May 28, 1999 in Los Angeles.
According to ABC News, a spokesperson for the Boyce family reported, “It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron. He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”
Boyce played Luke Ross in 98 episodes of the TV show Jessie from 2011 to 2015 as well as starring in Jake and the Never Land Pirates as Jake. Then in 2017, he received a Daytime Emmy Award with Disney XD for his participation in the series Timeless Heroes – Be Inspired in honor of Black History Month appearing alongside his grandmother Jo Ann Boyce.
After the announcement of his passing, numerous people who worked with the actor took to social media to pay tribute to him including Adam Sandler who tweeted out, “Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences.”

Descendants director Kenny Ortega also added, “Cameron. May the love and Light you spread throughout your brief life, soar you with flight into the heavens above. You were already an Angel in life. The Legacy you leave is magnificent! Love You My Forever Boy.”
Disney Channel spokesperson stated, “From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world. As a young man, he was fueled by a strong desire to make a difference in peoples’ lives through his humanitarian work. He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend.”
The chairman of the Walt Disney Co., Bob Iger, posted on Twitter: “The Walt Disney Company mourns the loss of #CameronBoyce, who was a friend to so many of us, and filled with so much talent, heart and life, and far too young to die. Our prayers go out to his family and his friends.”

Boyce dedicated himself to charity work in the recent years. Boyce raised $30,000 to build wells for clean drinking water in Swaziland for the Thirst Project, a nonprofit. This lead to him being honored with the Pioneering Spirit Award at last year’s Thirst Gala.
Boyce is still set to appear in Paradise City as Simon and in Mrs. Fletcher on HBO alongside Kathryn Hahn.
Descendants 3 premieres on August 2.
