The fourth season will follow the aftermath of Alfred’s death, as the alliances between each kingdom becomes fractured. Believing the event to be perfect timing, Uhtred attempts to challenge his uncle Aelfric, played by Joseph Millson, as he takes back his ancestral home, Bebbanburg.
Fate shifts in a different direction, leading Uhtred to believe that his alternate destiny is tied to Alfred’s dream of a united land. Uhtred’s feelings for Aethelflaed further encourages his alliances and enemies to reconsider an all out war.
