Netflix’s Castlevania has released their first official trailer for their upcoming season. The first season was a success, so the animated series got renewed for a second season, which was announced earlier this month. In the trailer also reveals the premiere date for the new season which will be October 26th. Season two will also have double the episodes with eight total (the first season only being four). With the new season being eight episodes, it actually solves one of the main complaints that viewers had with Castlevania‘s first season.
Here is the trailer:
The series is about Dracula looking to get his revenge on all of mankind because they killed his wife (who was a scientist) but society and the church believed was a witch. Dracula raises hell on humanity with his army of darkness. Humans are no match for his hellish army and it falls upon Trevor (from the disgraced vampire hunting Belmont family), Alucard (a vampire and Dracula’s son), and Sypha (a sorceress and nomad scholar) to stop the murderous rampage.
The tagline for the season season is “It takes a monster to fight a monster.” This might foreshadow some epic father son fights. The trailer shows off battles that take place between the three main characters and the monsters, as well as, being filled with and endless amount of blood. There are also moments in the trailer where the audience sees brief glimpses of Dracula’s generals, whom are also probably characters that are based off of the games. The question is, which evil characters does the show plan on using?
The series itself is based off of a popular video game franchise with the same name. Executive producer to the show Adi Shankar tweeted the trailer on Twitter. He also added a post on Facebook saying, “We did not set the bar at “good enough”… We’re here to create the greatest videogame adaptation of all time.”

The second season is being written by Warren Ellis and will be directed by Sam Deats. They released a logline for season two which is, “Returning to Netflix for a second season, Castlevania, inspired by the classic video game series, is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself. Trevor Belmont, last survivor of his house, is no longer alone, and he and his misfit comrades race to find a way to save humanity from extinction at the hands of the grief-maddened Dracula and his sinister vampire war council.”
Season two will air on October 26th on Netflix.
