It’s the reboot we’ve all been waiting for! Nickelodeon is bringing back Double Dare in a brand new series for a whole new generation.
According to Variety, it was announced Tuesday that the show has been given a series order for a new version of the classic kid’s show. Double Dare will return in summer of 2018 with 40 new episodes.
Double Dare was Nickelodeon’s longest running game show it premiered in 1986 and aired until 1993. The network just celebrated the game’s 30th anniversary in 2016. NickSplat and Nick at Nite both aired a special commemorative episode and a live edition of the same show filmed at San Diego Comic-Con. The original host, Mark Summers, hosted the live edition and commemorative episode for the anniversary show and episode. Also returning will be many different unnamed guests from the original series.
They have yet to announce whose the host will be for the reboot.
Double Dare is about two teams competing to win prizes in a game that tests the players both mentally and physically. All the favorite elements from the original obstacle course from the 90’s show will be on the reboot, including the classic gigantic mouth, the wringer, the human hamster wheel, and the Double Dare nose.
This is just one of the latest Nickelodeon series to make a come back to small screen. Nickelodeon has brought back Legends of the Hidden Temple back, Hey Arnold, as movies. The network also has a movie in the works for retired show Invader Zim and Rocko’s Modern Life.
