TNT has finally given the green light to begin production on Deadlier Than the Male (working title) starring American Horror Story’s Lily Rabe.
The series will film on location in New Orleans and covers the story of three morally inept individuals who are attempting to put their lives back in order. Aside from Rabe, the series will feature Enrique Murciano (Without a Trace), Harnish Linklater (Fantastic Four), Chiara Aurelia (Pretty Little Liars) and Amy Brenneman (The Leftovers).
Rabe is all too familiar with playing broken people in a thriller setting. Her five characters on American Horror Story all had their own little dark secrets. Brenneman was always known as the lawyer or doctor type from previous roles until her last stint on The Leftovers as the disturbed mom-turned-cultist-turned-psychic Laurie.
Bruna Papandrea from Big Little Lies will share executive producer duties Harriet Warner who also wrote the script. Sarah Aubrey, Executive VP of Originals for TNT commented, “Harriet Warner, Bruna Papandrea, Houda Benyamina, Lily Rabe and Amy Brenneman are truly a dream team who have brought their brilliant creativity and talent to this mystery series.”
Papandrea collaborated prior with Reese Witherspoon to launch Pacific Standard which released feature films Gone Girl and Wild as well as HBO’s Emmy and Golden Globe winner Big Little Lies. Papandrea is also slated to return to that show for season 2.
TNT has not released any additional details on number of episodes or premiere date. Deadlier Than the Male joins a successful lineup of shows from the Warner-owned company including The Alienist, Good Behavior, The Last Ship, Snowpiercer and The Librarians.
