Actress Anna Chlumsky has been cast in a crucial role in the AMC drama Halt and Catch Fire for its fourth and final season, reports CinemaBlend. Chlumksy, best known for her Emmy-nominated role as the fiery and capable Amy Brookheimer on HBO’s Veep, will play Dr. Katie Herman, who is set to be a regular character during the show’s concluding season.
Halt and Catch Fire follows tech renegade Joe MacMillan, played by Lee Pace, as he builds a mishmash team of computer-savvy outcasts to create cutting-edge innovations and compete with industry monsters IBM and Apple. The show tracks the computer industry and growth of the internet from the late 1980’s to the early 1990’s. Chlumsky’s character, Dr. Katie Herman, will serve as a key member to the MacMillan clan in the upcoming season as she helps them maneuver the challenges of working in the computer industry during the inception of the internet.
One of creators and showrunners of Halt and Catch Fire, Christopher C. Rogers, released a statement announcing the casting of Chlumsky that stated, “From day one on set Anna has brought a wonderful new energy to the show, that both complements and somehow even further elevates the work of our core ensemble.” Rogers went on to add, “[We] feel incredibly lucky to add an actress of her caliber to our palette even as we bring the series-long story of Halt and Catch Fire to a close.” The series also stars Mackenzie Davis (Cameron Howe in the series), Scoot McNairy (Gordon Clark), Kerry Bishé (Donna Clark), and Toby Huss (John Bosworth).
In addition to her key role in Veep, Chlumsky’s other recent projects include working on Hannibal in the role of Miriam Lass and starring in the 2015 film The End of Tour as Sarah. The release date of Halt and Catch Fire Season 4 has not yet been determined.
