Adam Pally is joining the cast of the Mindy Project.

According to TVLine, Pally will play a new doctor at the OB-GYN clinic where Mindy (Mindy Kaling) practices. James Franco will also appear in Season 2 of the Mindy Project.

For three years, Pally played Max on Happy Endings, which was canceled by ABC in May.

Pally’s co-star Damon Wayans Jr. is returning to New Girl for multiple episodes. He appeared in the first episode of the Fox comedy, but didn’t continue on the series when Happy Endings was picked up.

The Mindy Project returns to Fox on Tuesday, September 17 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
