Deadline Hollywood reports that Tim DeKay and Zachary Knighton have been set as the male leads for Fox’s new pilot Linda From HR. Linda From HR is written by Geoff Barbanell and Itai Grunfeld, and directed by Marc Buckla. Linda is a single-camera comedy like NBC’s 30 Rock or Fox/Netflix’s Arrested Development. The story of Linda From HR centers on office worker Linda whose life is sent into a spiral of chaos when she makes one bad decision involving one big secret. Her life goes from the doldrums of office routine to an exciting and dangerous balancing act.
Tim DeKay is notable for playing lead role Peter Burke on White Collar, co-starred on Fox’s Second Chance and was also featured on Lucifer this year as Professor Carlisle.
These two comedians are set to co-star opposite Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham who plays the pilot’s namesake, Linda Plugh. DeKay will play Linda’s average and charismatic husband Dan Plugh. Zachary Knighton has been cast as Alan, an accountant with a dark secret who enjoys eating lunch with Linda on what is reportedly a work trip.
Zachary Knighton is a Happy Endings alum. Knighton played Dave Rose on ABC’s comedic series about young-adulthood which ended in 2013. He has also recently guest starred on The Good Fight and Fresh Off the Boat.
Though we have recently learned that Netflix has begun considering creating more Gilmore Girls, the return of Lorelai and Rory is far from certain. Still, neither Alexis Bledel’s role in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale nor Lauren Graham’s role in Linda From HR should be a determining factor in preventing more Gilmore Girls. Graham has already stated that she would be willing to participate in anything Gilmore Girls related.
