Production is already underway for American Crime Story.
Even though the cast for the second season (Katrina: American Crime Story) is still being announced, we already have a plot line and some headliners for the third season.
This subsequent season will be following the 1997 assassination of Gianni Versace, where the famous designer was killed on the steps of his very own Miami Beach mansion. His killer, Andrew Cunnan, took his own life just a week after he committed the deadly act. The book Vulgar Favors by Maureen Orth details the crime, and is going to be used as the base material for the season.
TVLine writes that Darren Criss has already been selected to play Andrew Cunnan. The role of a baddie is hardly new for the actor (especially after his new role in the Supergirl/The Flash crossover), but stepping into the shoes of a serial killer may be an interesting new muscle to flex for Darren Criss.
Additionally, Edgar Ramirez (Carlos, Point Break) has already been selected to play Gianni Versace.
Casting is still underway for the fourth season, but production for Versace will begin as soon as next month. Interestingly, while Katrina is the second season of the show, Versace is likely to be completed before the end of production for Katrina, although Katrina will undeniably air first.
