We currently live in a world where the internet plays a huge part in so many people’s lives. This includes people utilizing the internet for their jobs, social media accounts, streaming videos, and really the list goes on.
According to ShowBizJunkies, SyFy will soon be debuting a show called The Internet Ruined My Life. Which based on the title needs little explanation. The half-hour unscripted series will show viewers how a status update, tweet, or social media post went horribly wrong for certain individuals who will also share their online horror stories on the show.
SyFy’s series will focus on the various instances of cyber-bullying, death threats, and online crimes. The show will also feature experts in cyber-bullying, a former NYPD Lieutenant, a criminal justice professor, and a leading advocate for victims of online crime.

Suey Park, from Chicago IL posted #CancelColbert on Twitter in response to a joke she perceived as racist on The Colbert Report. This led to Park receiving death threats and having a sniper outside of her window threatening to shoot her.
Leigh Van Bryan from Coventry, UK tweeted “Free this week, for a quick gossip/prep before I go and destroy America?” before his upcoming trip to the United States. This led Bryan’s detainment and deportation by the Department of Homeland Security who viewed him a potential terrorist.
Nicole Crowther from Fort Meyers, FL was cast as an extra on Glee and months after her time on set she tweeted a rumor she overheard at a dinner party and the Glee Fandom (The Gleeks) relentlessly attacked her online.
Annmarie Chiarini an a professor from Baltimore, MD was convinced by her boyfriend to send him nude photos but after they break up he auctioned the pictures online.
The executive producers for The Internet Ruined my Life includes Banks Tarver, Ken Druckerman, Jerry Kolber, and Adam Davis. The first season of the series will consist of six episodes.
