During this year’s New York Comic Con, Marvel has revealed they will be continuing the Marvel Zombies universe in three separate Halloween specials called Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier, Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu, and Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian.
Disney+ has announced three new MARVEL ZOMBIES animated Halloween specials for 2027 through 2029:
The Winter Soldier in 2027
The Fist of Khonshu in 2028
The Last Guardian in 2029— Bloody Disgusting (@bloody-disgusting.com) October 8, 2026 at 4:53 PM
After the original Marvel Zombies was made as an episode for the show What If…? (2021-2024), the creators had the episode expand in its own series. With the show being a big hit last year, Director Bryan Andrews (Samurai Jack, Avengers: Endgame) will work on these tales as they come out for each three years. In Halloween 2027, they will release Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier as a spinoff on Bucky Barnes and his whereabouts during last year’s adventure.
In Halloween 2028, they will release Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu with Blade as Moon Knight. The Marvel Zombies TV series revealed that the Moon Knight in this alternate reality is Blade, played by Mahershala Ali (Green Book, Moonlight), instead of its original host Marc Spector, played by Oscar Isaac (Beef, Moon Knight). Ali was thought to have great likeness as the Blade character and was thought to appear on the big screen later. In the original series, Blade died a heroic death on the season finale, so there might be a change in Khonshu’s host.
In Halloween 2029, they will release Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian with two of the five members of the Guardians of the Galaxy being dead from the events that followed in Marvel Zombies. Potential candidates who are dead could include Drax, Gamora, and Star-Lord, but Rocket and Groot are the two that can’t be dead as they survived with Thor during the canon events of Avengers: Infinity Wars (2018).
It is unclear if there will be a second season for Marvel Zombies as they left viewers on a cliffhanger in the first season. These specials could give the audience answers on what to expect in this reality.
