A new original drama series has been announced by HBO Max. Its press release tells how Goya Award Winners Fran Araújo (Apagón, Hassan’s Way) and Eduard Sola (Querer, Mamen Mayo) will be the writers of the series.
The project will be developed in Spain as it is inspired by the story of Tor, an isolated community in the mountains of the high Pyrenees that experienced tragic events affecting the place and has never been solved the crimes committed. It is shaped as a historical landscape inhabited with ancient magic. Araújo and Sola plan to create the mountain in rich, character-driven stories for the viewers to feel like they are adventuring in them. They will bring their creative pedigree to the adaptation to revisit the events and the legends of the community to captivate Spain in its mystery, suspense, and human drama.
The executive producers for the drama series will be the acclaimed filmmakers of the 2026 Canes Film Festival for Best Directors Javier Calvo (Holy Camp!, La Bola Negra) and Javier Ambrossi (The Messiah, Holy Camp!). They are the most creatives voices in Spanish storytelling, having distinctive vision and ambition. They are also founders of the production company, Suma Content, where they made highly acclaimed projects, including La Mesías (2023) and La Bola Negra (2026). Araújo and Sola will collaborate with Carles Porta (François le Vaillant, Second Origin) and Luminol Media.
Calvo and Ambrossi says: “It is incredibly exciting to open this new chapter at Suma Content, and we feel that this series could become one of its flagship productions because of its scale and vision. Working with Fran Araújo and Eduard Sola, two of the great creators and screenwriters in our country, is a privilege. The mystery surrounding the mountain of Tor has always intrigued us, and we believe we have a story in our hands with enormous poetic and entertainment potential. We want to create something we haven’t seen before: a series in which nature, landscapes and spaces are protagonists in their own right, while never losing the voices of its characters across decades, within an addictive narrative. We are deeply grateful to HBO Max for believing in this project.”
