
Variety has revealed that Cindy Holland has exited her role as the Chair of Direct-to-Consumer at Paramount+. As she steps down from her role, she will not be leading any Paramount+ content anymore, along with any other direct-to-consumer streamers that fall within Paramount’s umbrella.
Holland’s departure was disclosed this past Tuesday morning with in an internal memo to the staff of the company. Her departure was effective immediately.
Holland’s has had a prolific run of her career so far. Before she worked at Paramount+, Holland participated in expanding Netflix for around 18 years. She was credited for securing recording-breaking shows like Stranger Things, The Queen’s Gambit, and Orange is The New Black. She also participated in expansion the Yellowstone universe at Paramount+ with Taylor Sheridan (Landman, Marshals), as well as being CEO of Elizabeth Murdoch’s production company called Sister. Holland has not announced any plans yet for her next steps after the departure with Paramount+.
It was confirmed through Holland that this decision was made by leadership, specifically Paramount Skydance current CEO, David Ellison. Holland acknowledges that Ellison’s decision comes with the intention for a smooth transition to the next phase of the network’s plans, which Holland supports.
Ellison has officially appointed Casey Bloys to take over Holland’s role. Bloys has been at HBO for over 25 years, with his current role as the Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max content. Bloys has worked on award-winning HBO shows such as Succession, Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, and Euphoria. Bloys will now lead in operations for all Paramount and Warner Bros. streaming for the companies planned merge.
Paramount’s $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery is also coming to a close within the next couple weeks, following Holland’s announced departure. Audiences will have to see what else will be announced about the Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition until the deal is officially completed.
