While talking with Maria Sharapova on the Pretty Tough podcast, Emmy Rossum was recently candid about baring it all on Shameless. The Furious actress revealed that acting in nude scenes while on the show affected her dating life, thanks to some “preconceived notions” that her dating partners had about her.

Rossum revealed, “It got quite tricky because of the nudity on the show. All of the guys that I would go out with had preconceived notions of who I was or how I was sexually. It was totally bizarre.” She shared an anecdote about a man she dated who wanted to go into politics. While she did not share the man’s name, she did share that he was concerned with how his future campaign would be affected by Rossum’s nude scenes.

Calling it “an insane conversation to have”, Rossum continued, “So, I think growing up in your 20s, you’re dating. You’re trying to figure out who you are. You’re coming into your own as an artist. And there’s also all these preconceived notions about you that are out there that are associated with [you] because your body is your art, right? And people can get confused.”

Rossum starred in Shameless from 2011 to 2019, exiting the series in the ninth season. She portrayed the role of Fiona Gallagher, a down-on-her-luck older sister who was attempting to keep the Gallagher family together following their mother’s departure (and in the wake of their father’s various addictions).

Rossum is currently starring in and executive producing Furious, where she portrays FBI agent Alice Black. Black is hunting down a female serial killer who’s killing a series of powerful men connected to a web of abuse. As Black and the female serial killer, portrayed by Lola Petticrew (Wolf, She Said), play a game of cat-and-mouse, the line between right and wrong begins to blur.
