According to Deadline, Ride or Die, a recent hit for Prime Video, has not been renewed for another season. The news comes as a surprise. The series enjoyed strong numbers after its summer debut. All hope may not be lost as Paramount Television Studios is reportedly looking for a new home for the series.
Prime Video signaled the series may not be in for a second season as it declined a quick turnaround on a renewal order. The series is a buddy spy comedy aimed at female audiences, dubbed a “white wine thriller”. The series did not receive the same marketing backing as Amazon’s young adult slate, such as Elle, Off Campus, Every Year After, and Sterling Point. Even so, the series was still a success by all indicators. All the YA series have been renewed for another season.
Ride Or Die even hit the top of the charts at one point, beating out large-budget films such as Master Of The Universe. During its first two days of release, the series racked up 927,000 views, almost doubling Elle’s number, according to Luminates Weekly US rankings. On Nielsen’s rankings, which chart across streamers, the show made its way to number eight and number three for original programming. It eventually rose to number four and two, for overall streaming and originals respectively. During the first two weeks of its release, from 7/30/25 to 7/29/26, it was Prime Video’s most-watched original.
During its entire run, it held the number one spot among originals for three weeks, beating Elle’s one week at the top but falling short of Off Campus’s five. Ride Or Die remains in Amazon’s global top even after season one’s conclusion. The series also enjoyed a strong reception beyond viewership, scoring 96% with critics and 85% with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series was created by Tessa Coates (Starstruck, Feel Good) and follows two lifelong friends, Debbie and Judith, whose relationship is thrown into turmoil when Debbie discovers that Judith is leading a double life as an assassin. The series stars Hannah Waddigham (Ted Lasso, The Fall Guy) as Judith and Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures, The Help) as Debbie.
