According to Deadline, Netflix canceled the romantic drama Ransom Canyon after its second season. The streamer has decided not to proceed with a third season. The decision comes a month and a half after Season 2 was released on July 23.

As per Deadline, adapted from the novels by Jodi Thomas (Lone Heart Pass, Rustler’s Moon), the series making it to a second season was surprising to many. In the first season of the series, the drama had a respectable viewership. It was renewed for a second season only two months after releasing its first season. With the storyline reset and other major changes,  the second season was creatively better received internally. Although this was the case compared to the first season logged in 4.1 million views for its first week of release, down 43% from its 2025 opening week, which collected 7.2 million views.

Deadline reports that since Netflix weighs cost vs. performance for its renewal decisions, the Season 2 viewership likely was not enough to secure another season.

According to Deadline, Ransom Canyon is a three ranching dynasties in the Texas Hill Country as they fight for their land, legacies, and water rights. The story follows Staten Kirkland of the Double K Ranch, ambitious Davis Collins of the Bar W Ranch, and bullheaded Cap Fuller of the Fuller Ranch.

As per Deadline, the cast of the series includes Josh Duhamel (Safe Haven, Transformers: The Last Knight) as Staten Kirkland, Minka Kelly (Just Go with It, The Roomate) as Quinn O’Grady, Lizzy Greene (A Million Littler Things, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn) as Lauren Brigman, Garrett Wareing (The Long Walk, Chasing Summer) as Lucas Russell, Marianly Tejada (One of Us Is Lying, Orange Is the New Black) as Ellie Estevez, Jack Schumacher (The Engagement Plan, Miles Teller: Great Balls of Fire) as Yancy Grey, Casey W. Johnson (Rise, Glow) as Kit Russell, Philip Winchester (Strike Back, The Player) as Dan Brigman, Justin Johnson Cortez (Gift of Fear, The Fall) as Kai Flores and many others.
