Leanne has returned to Netflix with a strong start for its second season, quickly landing among the streamer’s most-watched television shows in the United States. According to ScreenRant, the Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Mom) comedy ranked number four on Netflix’s U.S. TV chart on September 4.
The series returned for its second season on August 27 with 10 new episodes. Created by Lorre, Leanne Morgan (Leanne Morgan: I’m Every Woman, You’re Cordially Invited) and Susan McMartin (Mom, Two and a Half Men, Mr. Church), the sitcom follows a Southern woman rebuilding her life after her husband leaves her for another woman. The series centers on Leanne as she adjusts to a major life change while relying on her family and friends for support.
Morgan stars as Leanne alongside Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock from the Sun, Mom, The Exes), Celia Weston (Dead Man Walking, The Village, Junebug), Blake Clark (50 First Dates, The Waterboy, Toy Story 3), Ryan Stiles (Whose Line Is It Anyway?, The Drew Carey Show, Two and a Half Men) and Graham Rogers (Quantico, Atypical, The Kominsky Method). The ensemble helps continue the show’s focus on family dynamics and relationships as Leanne moves forward with her life.
The second season has remained inside Netflix’s U.S. Top 10 during its first week of release. On September 4, Leanne ranked ahead of several established titles, including Outer Banks, Talamasca: The Secret Order and Tires. Its continued placement on the chart shows that the series has maintained viewer interest following its first season.
The early performance continues Lorre’s success across both broadcast and streaming television.
