According to ScreenRant, Hey Arnold!, the animated series from Nickelodeon, may get a TV revival. Writer and producer Joe Purdy (The Secret Life of Bees, Going the Distance), during an interview with The Direct, talks about how Paramount is considering ordering a revival of the animated series.
Joe Purdy stated via ScreenRant, “Absolutely. Yes, yes, yes. There is an ever-changing environment of the business and people who are making decisions. It’s the cliché story… But be sure we are having conversations.”
As per ScreenRant, as far as what the series and its characters would look like in a potential revival, Purdy explained that they would only age the characters a year or two from the original series. Purdy goes on to talk about how even thought the characters won’t age, the technology in the series always progresses.
“I think it’s just to add some technology also. It’d be a little strange, if not. So that would definitely be a huge difference,” he said. Purdy has “many ideas and storylines” at the ready should Paramount give him the green light. “We’re sort of ready to go,” he exclaimed via ScreenRant.
ScreenRant reports that when it comes to the characters and setting, Purdy states: “I don’t know, still in the 90s. I think it’s just to add some technology, also. It’d be a little strange, if not. So, that would definitely be a huge difference. We have many, many ideas and storylines, so we’re sort of ready to go. But I don’t think it would be an abrupt, ‘They’re in high school.'”
According to ScreenRant, created by Craig Bartlett (Ready Jet Go!, Arnold Escapes from Church), Hey Arnold! aired on Nickelodeon from October 1996 to June 2004. The series follows Arnold Shortman, a thoughtful, compassionate fourth-grader with a football-shaped head, who lives with his eccentric grandparents in a multi-racial boarding house in the fictional city of Hillwood, Washington.
Hey Arnold! is available to stream on Paramount+.
