
It is a sad day for fans of The Office. According to Deadline, Lucy Davis (The Villains Of Valley View, Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina) has revealed that she has terminal cancer. Davis took to Instagram to share the news with her 590,000 followers.
“As of now, I’m trying to live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can. I always like to find the teachable moments in anything negative that happens. And cancer has not disappointed in that regard,” she wrote per Deadline.
As a true comedic actor, she stressed the importance of humor in her most difficult days. “The thing that has been most vital to me is humour. I asked my friends and family to make fun of me as much as possible (which they’re really good at), and most importantly of all to not treat me like a sick person,” via Deadline.
Davis was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer breast cancer. The disease eventually progressed and metastasized to her bones. She is 53 years old.
Davis concluded the note with well wishes for those suffering with cancer, “For those of you on a similar journey to mine, I do wish you well. Cancer asks a lot from us, physically and mentally. And we all get to do it however we choose,” she wrote.Even though she is struggling with an incurable disease, she stated that she would like to continue acting and animal rights advocacy.
Davis rose to stardom in the UK version of The Office, as the receptionist at Wernham Hogg. Her relationship with Tim Canterbury, played by Martin Freeman (The World’s End, Black Panther) served as one of the main romantic plot lines of the show, the UK counterpart to Jim and Pam. Luckily, fans would cheer on their journey to an eventual happy ending.
Her role and acting performance were recently the subject matter on Mackenzie Crook and Martin Freeman Remember… The Office. The duo called it “beautiful” and “subtle”. Other credits for Davis include Wonder Woman and Shaun Of The Dead.
