Conan O’Brien (Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Conan) is returning to international travel in the third season of Conan O’Brien Must Go. According to a press release by WBD, the four-episode season will premiere Friday, Aug. 21, at 9 p.m. on HBO, with episodes also available to stream on HBO Max. One new installment will arrive each Friday, with the season finale scheduled for Sept. 11.

The press release notes season three follows O’Brien as he travels to India, the Netherlands, Morocco and the Philippines. During each visit, he meets fans he previously spoke with through his podcast while exploring the culture and customs of their home countries.

The series grew out of Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan, a part of O’Brien’s larger Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast. The conversations introduce him to listeners from around the world before he travels to meet some of them in person. The resulting encounters combine the format of a travel program with O’Brien’s improvisational comedy.

As mxdwn previously reported, the first season launched on Max in April 2024 with four episodes. That initial coverage explained how O’Brien would visit fans in Norway, Thailand, Argentina and Ireland while experiencing each country’s food, sights and local culture. It also highlighted his interest in speaking with people who might not recognize him, allowing the meetings to unfold without the structure of a traditional celebrity interview.

The earlier report also noted that the travel format gave O’Brien more production options than the remote segments from his former talk show. The series could use more cinematic photography, drones and costumes while still keeping his conversations with local residents at the center.

Season three continues that original approach with four new destinations. HBO describes the program as an Emmy-winning series centered on O’Brien’s attempts to connect with fans and experience their communities, though those meetings often lead to awkward exchanges and unusual situations.

Conan O’Brien Must Go is produced by Conaco. O’Brien serves as an executive producer alongside Jeff Ross (Conan, Late Night with Conan O’Brien). The third season begins Aug. 21 on HBO and HBO Max, with new episodes airing weekly through Sept. 11. The first two seasons are currently available to stream on HBO Max.
