On last night’s episode of So You Think You Can Dance, the judges picked the top twenty dancers out of the thirty-three nervous contestants.
Among the remaining dancers include hip-hop dancers Du-Shaunt “Fik-Shun” Stegall and Mariah Spears.
In an interview with Zap2it, Spears explains the most difficult part of the competition, “I do hip hop, so I’m a little nervous for […] everything else. Especially like, I like to think I’m great at ballroom, but that’s just because I love doing it and I’m not great at all. I can’t do it very well. So I’m a little nervous for ballroom–it’s a lot of technique to pick up… Just partnering in general–I’ve never partnered before.”
The contemporary genre dominates the top twenty. The seven remaining dancers in this category are Mackenzie Dustman, Jasmine Harper, Nico Greetham, Tucker Knox, Carlos Garland, Hayley Erbert and Malece Miller.
Curtis Holland, Aaron Turner and Alexis Juliano make up the tap dancing group. Other members of the top twenty are Amy Yakima and Jasmine Mason of Jazz, Dorian “BluPrint” Hector and Jade Zuberi of the Animators, and Brittany Cherry, Jenna Johnson, Paul Karmiryan and Alan Bersten of the Ballroom category.
To watch this group in action, tune into So You Think You Can Dance Tuesday nights at 8 PM ET on FX.
