According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Murphy (Glee, The Beauty) teases that the 13th season of American Horror Story will reunite fan favorites from the franchise. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, he states how many cast members of the anthology will be returning in the new season, including Jessica Lange (King Kong, Frances), Evan Peters (Tron: Ares, Mare of Easttown), Emma Roberts (Wild Child, Scream Queens), Angela Bassett (Black Panther, 9-1-1) and Sarah Paulson (Bird Box, Run). They will be reprising many fan-favorite roles in the new season, which is set to tie the whole franchise together.

“Everybody thinks it’s a Coven season and it’s not. It’s all the seasons,” he said via The Hollywood Reporter. “Sarah Paulson is playing six or seven roles. Jessica Lange is playing all four of her iconic characters. Evan Peters is playing five characters… It is like the Avengers. They all come together to defeat the ultimate evil.”

The Hollywood Reporter reports Murphy spoke about how he convinced longtime stars of the franchise to return for another season.

“As soon as I pitched it to them — many of them had said ‘no’ over the years — they were like, ‘Well, OK, I’ve gotta come back for that’. But I pitched Jessica Lange and she was like, ‘Oh shit, now I gotta do it,’” Murphy said via The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s all of them in one season and it’s 13 episodes because it’s called ‘13’. I spent many, many months and many years writing it. I wanted to do 13 in a special way.”

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Peters, one of the franchise’s most recurring actors as one of  Murphy’s collaborators, previously told The Hollywood Reporter he was “shocked” Lange agreed to return. “Ryan knows how to have those dinners. He will get you in a second. I was definitely shocked, but thrilled, honestly,” he said in January.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, many fans of the franchise are excited for the 13th season, whose official logline reads as follows: “Bringing together an all-star cast, many of whom are reprising fan favorite roles, American Horror Story: 13 continues to build on the anthology’s decades-long legacy that has been streamed more than 700 million hours across the globe and spawned a legion of dedicated fans. American Horror Story has redefined the genre with various installments featuring a creepy murder house, a coven of witches, a traveling freak show, a haunted hotel and the apocalypse itself.
