Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power panel announced Balrog will be played by Simon Pegg (The Boys, Shaun of the Dead) in the upcoming third season. The fire demon-like creates was featured in an exclusive video titled “Bringing Season Three’s Creatures to Life” screened at the the panel. In it, Pegg expressed how his father read The Lord of the Ring books to him, and his interest with the franchise had always been present.

In addition to Pegg’s Balrog voice acting role, upcoming cast member Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things, Sweeney Todd) attended the panel where he revealed his casting as Celeborn— Galadriel’s long-lost husband. Bower received lots of praise and support from the audience, and cast member Ismael Cruz Cordova (The Undoing, Ray Donovan) said he was a delight to work with while sharing an embrace.

Other cast members that announced during the panel included Andrew Richardson (The Independent, Ponies) as Isildur’s brother and Elendil’s younger son, Anarion, Adam Young (Masters of the Air, Sex Education) as Orc Marnûkh and Eddie Marsan (Clayface, Prisoner as Thrain— King Durin IV’s older brother.

Four Nazgnagôls made an appearance during the panel as the screen turned red, patiently awaiting for Sauron’s command. The creatures will make their series debut as Sauron’s ring-servants and are the earlier Second Age incarnation of the Nazgûl, also known as Ringwraiths, of the Third Age.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power takes place five years after the fall of Eregion and a war in Middle-earth has been established. Men, elves, dwarves and wizards alike have no other option but to unionize to avoid species domination from Sauron.

Season three’s initial four episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will be released November 11 on Prime Video.
