Apple TV+ has acquired the adaptation rights to Peculiar Stars, the upcoming romance novel from bestselling author Rebecca Yarros (Fourth Wing, The Last Letter, Great And Precious Things). According to Deadline, Apple Studios will develop the novel into a television series, with Yarros serving as an executive producer through her production company, Full Measures Productions. 

A writer has not yet been attached to the adaptation. The novel is scheduled to be published on November 17. 

Peculiar Stars follows a young woman who becomes stranded on a deserted island with a member of her fiancé’s family after a cyclone. As the pair struggle to survive over 543 days, their unexpected bond challenges everything she thought she knew about love. After returning home, they face new dangers as they navigate privilege, expectations, and long-buried secrets. 

The acquisition marks Apple TV+’s latest investment in romance programming. The streaming platform has previously explored the genre with series including The Buccaneers starring Kristine Froseth (The Assistant, Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, Desert Road), Pachinko starring Kim Min-ha (Way Back Love, The Call, Light Shop), and Lessons in Chemistry starring Brie Larson (Room, Captain Marvel, The Spectacular Now). 

Yarros is best known for her Empyrean fantasy romance series, which includes Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Onyx Storm. The series has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. An adaptation of Fourth Wing is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios, with Meredith Averill (The Good Wife, The Haunting of Hill House, Locke & Key) attached as the showrunner. 

Several of Yarros’ other novels are also being adapted for the screen. The Things We Leave Unfinished is in development at Lionsgate with Arash Amel (A Private War, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Grace of Monaco) adapting the screenplay and Thea Sharrock (Me Before You, Wicked Little Letters, The Hollow Crown) set to direct. Netflix is developing In the Likely Event, while Amazon is adapting Variation as a feature film. The Last Letter is also in development at Amazon. 

A premiere date and additional creative details for Peculiar Stars have not yet been announced.
