Netflix is preparing to expand the entertainment world, with its upcoming series project, which will be based on the supernatural anime video game, Persona, which celebrates its 30th anniversary. According to Screenrant, the plot of the series which has not been revealed, will surely be the one used in the game, which follows a group of high school teenagers, who fight against demonic threats, by unleashing and utilizing the manifestation of the psyches known as ‘personas’ to combat the evil forces.
If the series lands a massive hit right from the beginning, it will surely rank among other critically acclaimed video game adaptations like Arcane, Devil May Cry, and Castlevania. Stated by Screenrant, this announcement perfectly represents Sega and Atlus constantly pushing boundaries, while coinciding with the official teasing of Persona 6 and the upcoming Persona 4 Revival. Christopher Monfette (Star Trek: Picard, 12 Monkeys) is reportedly attached to write, executive produce, and serve as the series showrunner, alongside Shawn Levy (Free Guy, Deadpool & Wolverine) and Robert Atwood (Ringer, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World).
Reported by Screenrant, Netflix has teamed up with 21 Laps Entertainment and Story Kitchen to develop the new series based on the hit franchise. Although production is moving forward, the creators have yet to announce which timeline or iteration of the franchise will serve as the show’s core focus. They have a wealth of options to choose from, ranging from the small-town murder mystery of Persona 4 to the urban rebellion of Persona 5.
Regardless of where the narrative takes us, one thing is certain: the upcoming installment is poised to completely reinvent the Persona franchise, while simultaneously capturing the hearts of an entirely new generation of players. While a broader wave of information is on the horizon to give audiences a clearer roadmap of where the show is heading, even the slightest mention of what’s to come is enough to leave fans on the edge of their seats, absolutely craving more.
