According to Deadline, The Wolf King is one of the next Romantsy novels coming to television. Now it has another creative voice to help usher in the adaptation. Tanya Saracho (Looking, How To Get Away With Murder) will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the series. The original author, Lauren Palphreyman (The Night Prince, Cupid’s Match), will also serve as executive producer to help ensure her vision is properly translated to the screen. The Wolf King is the first in a three-book series, all written by Palphreymen. Starz is set to air the show.
The series will follow Auroa, the princess of a high fantasy realm, who is abducted by a werewolf alpha and swept into a world of bloodshed. During her captivity and ensuing journey, she will discover a feeling of self-determination that lay dormant while sheltered within the castle walls.
“Coming back home to Starz with The Wolf King is a full-circle moment for me. This book has been my obsession since I first found it as an indie release over a year ago, and I’ve been lovingly championing it ever since,” Saracho said per Deadline.
Saracho continued to beam about returning to the network that aired her previous series, Vida.“While Lauren Palphreyman’s beautiful book series is an exciting departure from the genre I’m typically known for, getting to adapt it for the network that housed Vida for three seasons just feels destined to be. I couldn’t be more ecstatic to finally share my love for this story with the world!” she shared via Deadline.
According to Deadline, President of Original Programming for Starz, Kathryn Bubsy (Sex And The City, Ultraviolet), mirrored Saracho’s excitement about her return. “With the rich world Lauren Palphreyman has created in ‘The Wolf King’ and our longstanding relationship with Tanya — whose instinct for sexy, nuanced storytelling is unmatched — we’re excited to bring this saga to screen with all the heat and heart it deserves,” she said.
