HBO Max has officially ordered Adventure Time: Bubblegum and Marceline, a new animated series set within the Adventure Time universe. According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the project has received a 10-episode straight-to-series order and will continue expanding the franchise following the success of the franchise’s two other spinoffs titled Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake starring Madeleine Martin (Californication, Hemlock Grove, The Discoverers) and Adventure Time: Distant Lands starring Olivia Olson (Love Actually, Phineas and Ferb, Adventure Time).

The upcoming series will follow Princess Bubblegum and Marceline the Vampire Queen as they travel across the farthest reaches of Ooo, encountering both familiar faces and new threats along their journey. The pair have long been fan-favorite characters within the Adventure Time universe and previously played major roles throughout the original series.
Adam Muto (Adventure Time, Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake, Adventure Time: Distant Lands) will serve as showrunner and executive producer of the new series. Muto expressed excitement about revisiting the world of Adventure Time and continuing to explore two of his favorite characters.
Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President of HBO and HBO Max Comedy Programming, also praised the project, noting that the creative team continues to find new ways to expand the Adventure Time universe. Sam Register (Beware the Batman, Ben 10, Batman: The Killing Joke), President of Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, similarly described the franchise as one of animation’s most beloved worlds and expressed excitement for the new installment.
Adventure Time: Bubblegum and Marceline is executive produced by Muto alongside Fred Seibert (Adventure Time, Castlevania, The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder) and Register. The series is being produced in partnership with Cartoon Network Studios.
A premiere date for Adventure Time: Bubblegum and Marceline has not been announced at this time.
