Josh and Lindsay return home from their errands and they notice that Burberry is missing! They start searching the house for him and he is nowhere to be found. Josh goes to their neighbor, and she lets him know that she has camera footage of cars going in and out of their driveway, but she is very slow to tell him anything, so he gives up and continues searching with Lindsay.
The couple drives around town and receives a call from a shelter saying that they have him! Lindsay is incredibly relieved. However, once they get to the shelter, they are presented with a Burberry look-alike. They are both furious, but the worker tells them that if they were good people, they would save this dog. They take him and name him Burberry. Lindsay is severely depressed. They begin fighting, blaming the responsibility of Burberry’s whereabouts on each other. After much screaming and yelling, a furious Lindsay storms out to look for Burberry on her own while Josh goes back to work.
Lindsay goes around town hanging out flyers and showing people pictures of Burberry before seeing Ashley and Austin showing pictures of Burberry to strangers. Ashley explains how she saw a Facebook post and is willing to help Lindsay find him. Lindsay is a bit shocked, but takes all the help she can get. Austin heads back to work.
At work, Josh runs into his colleague Troy and his wife, Ava. They can clearly see that Josh is throwing himself into work and Troy tells him that he needs to loosen up a bit. Troy whisks Josh away on his private jet to Utah to attend a very private Hot Chip concert. Josh cannot believe what is happening to him, even joining the band on the keyboard without a care in the world. Later in the night, Lindsay and Ashley are still looking for the dog. Lindsay tells Ashley about Josh’s whereabouts. Ashley can’t believe that Josh isn’t helping his wife look for their dog. She rants about how Lindsay is too good for that ,and how Josh should be there for her. Lindsay really likes what she’s hearing, and strikes a friendship with Ashley. Ashley even opens up to Lindsay about her infertility journey.

Lindsay’s search moves to the forest when she hears barking; it’s Burberry! She runs deeper into the forest and sees that a coyote has gotten him. She’s able to get him away from it, but he’s hurt badly. At the vet, Josh finds Lindsay sitting in the waiting room. she tells him Burberry’s in surgery, but it’s not looking very good. While sitting in the waiting room, they begin to confess how they truly feel. Lindsay brings up how she and Josh should get divorced. Josh agrees. The vet comes out of the operating room and says three words: “I’m so sorry.” Burberry didn’t make it. Lindsay is left in tears. Josh goes home and drinks the orange juice. Cut to black.
This episode was heartbreaking to say the least. The dog’s death was unexpected and it was sad watching the couple experience this loss. However, this was an interesting approach to how Josh and Lindsay saw their relationship. They were always fighting, blaming each other, and two completely different people prior to getting together. The dog that they shared was the straw that broke the camel’s back, in the sense that it proved how they weren’t a good fit. This was like a huge metaphor which was an interesting way to play an episode. Lindsay having a good relationship with Ashley fits well in this episode as we know that Ashley has been having problems with Austin and Eunice. It’s almost as if Ashley wants someone to look up to moving forward. We know that Lindsay obviously likes that too.
