A Prime Video press release confirms that gospel soul artist KIRBY delivers an immaculate performance in the new main title theme Saving Grace music video, which delivers an authentic Spider Noir 1930’s aesthetic and sound. The Nicholas Cage (Gone in Sixty Seconds, Face/Off)-starring and produced series premieres May 25th on MGM+ linear and will see a global binge release of all 8 episodes in their entirety on Prime Video May 27th.
The main title theme sets a moody jazz tone for the series, accompanied by visuals of Kirby Lauren (Loved by You, Vain) in femme fatale and dark comic-book scenes from the series—vibes of classic soul mix with modern R&B, invoking the likeness of Leon Bridges and Otis Redding. The vocals are as animated as the clips from the show, with hints of Love on the Brain by Rihanna (Oceans 8, Home), which was also co-written by KIRBY. The song really drives home the dark piano melodies and dramatic swells that bring to life the 1930’s and 40’s detective fiction that spawned the gumshoes universe.
To ensure a true noir experience, the show will have dual viewing options. Viewers will be able to choose between the “Authentic Black & White” format or the modern “True-Hue Color.” The theme song is available for streaming now here, and the entire soundtrack, composed by Kris Bowers and Michael Dean Parsons, will drop on May 27th and is available for preorder here.
Cage is set to star as the lead Ben Reilly, also known as Spider-Man Noir. He will be joined by Lamore Morrison playing Robbie Robertson, Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane, and Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy. Reilly is a down-on-his-luck private investigator who gets catapulted into the spotlight once again as the city’s only superhero.
The live-action comic remake will be available May 25th on MGM+.
