According to Deadline, The Boys creator Eric Kirpike (Gen V, Supernatural) is starting to get annoyed with Donald Trump beating him to the punch. According to deadline, for the second time, Trump and Homelander have displayed similar antics. First, Trump posted an AI video depicting himself as Jesus, mirroring Homelander’s god complex in the series. Now, Trump has erected a gold statue that is eerily close to the Homelander likeness in The Boys.
Kirpkie took to Instagram and shared a side-by-side picture of the statues. The text on the photo said, “Seriously what the f**k.” One fan tweeted, “You can’t make this sh*t up,” via Deadline.

Kirpkie shared his thoughts about the AI-generated Truth Social post with Polygon, “I am really tired and weary of the world reflecting the show before we get a chance to do it. I appreciate the marketing. I’m just like, can you just please give us a chance to put some absurd satire out there before you prove that it’s more realistic than we ever intended?,” via Deadline.
Kirpkie continued, “This is the episode where Homelander decides he’s going to be God, and 48 hours before it, Trump releases an image of himself as God. A month ago, when we were talking about marketing, I was like, Homelander saying he’s God is so out there. We have to be careful about how we even introduce the idea to the public because they’ll say he’s gone too far, and here we are. It’s just really hard to out-satire this world,” via Deadline.
Trump took down the post depicting himself as Jesus after experiencing pushback from both parties. He backtracked by attempting to frame it as a mistake, remarking, “I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do with the Red Cross. “It’s supposed to be me as a doctor making people better. And I do make people better,” via Deadline.
Kirpkie has called it “really f**king unsettling” that one storyline from the seventh episode has already happened in the real world. Kirpkie has noted that the fifth and final season of The Boys was written before the 2024 election, so the similarities were not entirely intentional. Although Kirpkie has admitted that he has used Trump as inspiration for some of Homeland’s actions.
